OK class, your undivided attention please...
The ride is tomorrow, and as usual I want to take this chance to remind you of some of the important points before we head out.
- Everybody please come see myself or Michele at the first stop and sign in. I am going to start keeping track of who comes and awarding prizes for attendance, even if you dont dress up!
- BE SURE you have lights on the front AND back of your bicycle. Its the law! Just last month a rider on another bicycle run was injured in Ozona when she rode into a ditch, because she couldnt see it, because she had no lights. I have seen other groups who will not allow people to ride without lights. I dont want to be that strict about it, but please, dont be an idiot, Wal-Mart has lights for about $20 for the full set.
- On the same note as #2, please ride in a nice tight group. The rider who broke her neck last month was riding off on her own at the time. Stay in the group, we have riders front and back coordinating to keep us all safe. This also means no leaving a stop early to skip ahead, no side routes, no shortcuts. The last thing any of us want is a serious injury on one of our rides.
- PLEASE pace your "consumption". Half of the stops this month have full service liquor. Stop and think about if its really a good idea to lead off the night with a round of shots. There will be plenty of time for that toward the end of the night.
